Notice the keyfob attached to the electronics box.  This is it's storage space (held on by velcro).  The wire out of the top is the antenna for the keyfob.  The d-connector is the serial port for remote programming.  The nine volt battery controls the electronics and the D-cells control the servos on the back of the owl head.  The two buttons that you see are for emergency control from within the clock (if the keyfob gets lost).
